President John F. Kennedy lends moral support to Navy Week in Canada via a message to the Navy League of Canada: "As commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the United States, I would like to extend on behalf of our navy a warm hand of friendship to the Royal Canadian Navy and to join in the salute to Canadian sailors and sea cadets."

HMS Kent puts into Esquimalt for repairs after battle damage in the Battle of the Falkland Islands in December 1914.

The first CHSS-2 (later designated CH-124) Sea King helicopter enters RCN service.

26 May 1886
The last stone is laid in the "First Graving Dock" Esquimalt, (now Esquimalt Graving Dock). The "First Graving Dock" was officially closed on 1 June 1927, and was not in use again until 1945. It was renamed "Naden" dock in 1971, and renamed again on 20 July 1978, the centennial of its construction, when it got its current title.
